Client: Australian Sports Commission
Revitalised campus catering supports Australia’s next generation of elite athletes
Located in Canberra, the Australian Institute of Sport provides training and coaching to Australia’s elite athletes. Aiming to provide enhanced catering facilities and optimise retail and function catering across its multitude of facilities and stadia, The Australian Sports Commission sought to scope options and refine its vision for diverse catering requirements across campus prior to retendering.
Securing a catering operator that aligned with the Institute’s culture and aspirations was of identified as a critical requirement. The Institute also aimed to optimise commercial outcomes of retail and function facilities through enhanced services and proactive marketing.
The Institute has a complex range of sporting and residential facilities providing a range of public access and elite training activities. As a public asset, it provides a critical service to the local community and adjacent university campus, and plays a key role in educating the community on the role of sport in health.
Working in collaboration with the Australian Sports Commission to understand the priorities across the campus, The Maytrix Group managed the planning and procurement process. The smoothly managed process engaged qualified operators and clearly articulated the vision for cross campus catering. Tender documentation focused on communicating the complex stakeholder requirements and the aspirations for catering services across the various outlets, while being consistent with Federal Government tender guidelines.
The operator procurement delivered reinvigorated facilities, active marketing and improved communication of nutritional and dietary analysis to deliver enhanced outcomes. The contract provides a framework for management of performance outcomes, supporting an enhanced service offer to the athletes and providing improved commercial returns from the venues.
