Client: City of Greater Dandenong
The Maytrix Group worked with the City of Greater Dandenong for over five years to improve use of and provide strategy for Drum Theatre, formerly the Dandenong Town Hall
Opened in February 2006, Drum Theatre is a purpose-built, state of the art, 521 seat performing arts theatre. Situated within the heritage facade of the former Dandenong Town Hall, the theatre engages with artists and the community and hosts more than 150 performances for over 60,000 patrons each year.
The Maytrix Group worked closely with the City of Greater Dandenong for over five years to improve use of and provide strategy for Drum Theatre, formerly the Dandenong Town Hall. In our most recent project, The Maytrix Group and Positive Solutions were engaged to provide Council with a management approach to maximise the venue’s use and return on investment, facilitate the delivery of high quality events across multiple market segments and to provide a Community Engagement Strategy.
The Maytrix Group and Positive Solutions collaborated to deliver a high level strategic plan and a detailed strategy and governance model for maximising facility use and returns to Council. The process of preparing a high level Strategic Plan involved precise understanding of Community and Council needs and the development of a business model to provide sustainability for the organisation. Market research with more than 300 community respondents and understanding the Council’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Plan which seeks broad engagement of rich and culturally diverse community informed the strategy. Delivery of high level Strategic Plan, embracing a new vision and mission, was developed by The Maytrix Group and adopted by Council in November 2015, supported by measurable performance targets and a business and marketing plan.
