Over more than 14 years, The Maytrix Group has successfully defined the commercial catering and venue management contract operating model and has managed contractor appointments for Melbourne Town Hall.
Melbourne Town Hall is one of the most significant and wellknown public buildings in Melbourne’s CBD. Heritage-listed, architecturally significant and steeped in historic and civic significance, it has shaped Melbourne’s community and cultural life for more than 135 years and is the site of celebrated milestones. Its high community profile brings significant high public expectations for its care and use. The City of Melbourne recognized that changing market conditions and increased competition could reduce the range and capability of operators responding to its tender for the Town Hall’s venue management contract.
The Maytrix Group was recently engaged to review the City of Melbourne’s venue management tendering process and contract management terms. The challenge was to ensure the tendering process enabled strong social impact and sustainability measures. Our understanding of venue management services helped in reviewing the contract specifications to ensure they embraced current market trends and provided a relevancy to the approach to market. Specific knowledge of the contract helped the tender review, approach to market and evaluation of tenderers. Venue Management Services in partnership with a local social enterprise was appointed to deliver enhanced catering and venue
management services to the Town Hall. International benchmarking of approaches to arts and cultural facilities informed long-term strategy in the applied model.
