Working closely with the project team, The Maytrix Group informed planning and options for catering facilities, and managed procurement of kitchen fitout
Cricket Victoria, with the support of Cricket Australia and State and Federal Government, is undertaking a $40 million redevelopment of Junction Oval in St Kilda, to develop a dedicated sporting and educational complex at the Junction Oval in St Kilda.
As a centre of excellence for cricket, the purpose built Victoria Cricket and Community Centre will be an alternative first-class cricket venue to the Melbourne Cricket Ground and provide high performance training facilities for teams and training squads and for St Kilda Cricket Club. The new facility will provide an administrative base for Cricket Victoria and will also house the national centre for ‘Diversity through Cricket’ which will promote social inclusion and harmony in the community.
With an estimated capacity for around 3,000 spectators, when developed the site provides an integrated sporting precinct compromising:
- Alternate first-class venue with a capacity of up to 7000
- Administrative offices, Cricket Victoria
- 10-lane indoor training centre
- Extensive turf training area
- High quality training, medical and rehabilitation facilities
- National Centre for Diversity through Cricket incorporating the ‘Harmony in Cricket’ community hub
- Improved facilities for community cricket, including the St Kilda Cricket Club
- Multi- use function venue and commercial kitchen
- Café and Bar
Working closely with Waypoint, engaged to lead the project on behalf of Cricket Victoria, The Maytrix Group undertook the financial modelling and options analysis for café and function facilities to inform planning and design for the Victoria Cricket and Community Centre to achieve flexible and scalable facilities to meet future use and demand.
Following design development, The Maytrix Group managed the tender for function and café kitchen and service areas, to deliver considerable saving against the cost plan. The Maytrix Group will continue to have an active role through the construction phase working closely with the project team and Cricket Victoria to manage the procurement of an operator to meet Cricket Victoria’s aspirations for this centre for excellence for cricket.
