Gladstone Ports Interpretive Centre
Client: Gladstone Port Corporation
Focal point of an activated parkland precinct, opening the foreshore to the Gladstone community and region
The Gladstone Ports Corporation has had plans for a Port Interpretive Centre in development for several years. The Centre will make Gladstone’s rich maritime history and heritage accessible to the community. It is envisioned as an engaging cultural attraction that will provide an educational and cultural experience, contributing to the life of the town for both locals and visitors, supporting tourism to the region.
The ongoing success and viability of the Centre will be closely integrated with the life and activation of the surrounding precinct.
Following concept planning which fully integrates with landscape design and considers precinct programming, the Centre and stage 2 of the East Shores precinct is now funded for development.
The Maytrix Group, working in conjunction with Positive Solutions, provided analysis and supported the precinct Master planning, resulting in the strategic location of the Centre and integration of café and function use to support the broader objectives for community engagements.
Planning also considered activation through programming options for the precinct and informed operational forecasts to support project funding.
Maytrix will continue to work closely with the Ports Corporation and project team through the realisation of this development. Our role includes the development of a functional design brief for the commercial areas, design liaison and documentation of catering service areas, business plan and procurement of commercial operators.
